What is a Licensed, Bonded and Insured Contractor?
In the state of Arizona, licensed contractors are required to be bonded and insured. So what exactly does this mean to you? Maricopa Country requires all contracts licensed in its municipalities to put up a two year bond in advance. Think of it like a hole in one competition to win a car, the dealership does not give the car away, they purchase an insurance policy just in case to cover the costs. The county bond is basically the same thing, should a contractor improperly install something on your project that fails to meet required construction code, in a worst case scenario they refuse to obey the county’s requirement to bring it up to code, they take swift action on the company and these funds help to make homeowners close to whole.
